Taplo includes built-in rental product management, allowing ranges to offer firearms, gear, or equipment for rent — with automatic inventory tracking, time-based rentals, and real-time alerts when items need to be returned.
Setting Up a Rental Product
Rental products are managed under Catalog → Rental Guns (or the relevant category in your catalog).
Steps to Create a Rental Product
Navigate to your catalog and select the appropriate category (e.g., Rental Guns)
Click to create a new product
Fill in the product details:
- Product name (e.g., “Glock”) - Requires age verification — enable this for firearms - Product type — set this to Rental - Category — assign it to the appropriate catalog category (e.g., Rental Guns)
Set the quantity on hand — the total number of this item available at any given time (e.g., 10)
Set the rental duration — how many minutes one purchase of this product constitutes (e.g., 60 minutes = 1 hour)
Set the price (e.g., $25)
Save the product
How Rentals Work at the Counter
Once a rental product is purchased by a customer, Taplo automatically handles the tracking:
The item appears in the Rental section of the Counter, marked as Out
The quantity on hand is decremented in real time, preventing your staff from ever over-promising on inventory
When the rental period is up, the item entry flashes red on the counter — alerting staff that the item needs to be retrieved from the customer
